cosmetic tattooing
What is it?
Cosmetic tattooing, also known as permanent makeup, is a low maintenance way to create balance, structure, definition where one may otherwise not have it. It offers long-lasting results with minimal maintenance to simplify your day to day routine, while enhancing your natural features. Using the most advanced techniques and highest quality pigments, I tailor each service experience to the clients specific anatomy, taking into account things like: skin depth and tone, facial structure, goals and preferences. Customizing the services in this way ensures natural- looking enhancements that fit and flatter.
So what services are available? And how do you know which is best for you?
There are three main eyebrow techniques that I utilize to create a brow enhancement. These are: Microblading, Nano Brows and Powder Brows. These techniques can also be combined in what we call a ‘combination brow’ or a ‘blade and shade.’
microblading
$500
Microblading is a technique that uses a specialized hand tool comprised of ultra-fine needles to deposit pigment into the superficial layers of the skin in hair-like strokes that mimic the texture of natural brow hairs. This technique is well suited for skin types that are dry to normal without large pores or visible texture. In cases with skin types that do not fit the above description, please see nano brows.
Nano brows
$550
Nano brows is the newest and most innovative brow technique that we utilize currently. Nano is a machine work technique that uses a fine, single-needle to create ultra-precise hair-like strokes in the skin. It provides a similar style of brow to that of the Microblading technique but caters to a wider range of skin types as it is less invasive and therefore, more gentle on the skin. This technique is well suited for most, if not, all skin types.
Powder brows
$500
Powder brows (also called ombré brows) is a coverage focused machine work technique intended to mimic daily makeup done with a soft powder or pencil. The machine implants pixels into the superficial layers of the skin which creates a soft filled in, shaded appearance to the brow. This technique is well suited for most, if not, all skin types.
Meet emily
To give a little bit of background, I grew up in southern California within what I would call a moderately conservative household. I think I always understood myself to be a deeply creative and also fairly conflicted person. The structures that existed with my home and the ones I was expected to build a life within felt misaligned, rigid, maybe a bit suffocating, and as I gained perspective through my own life experiences, I was able to recognize that my path toward fulfillment and wholeness wouldn't likely fit within the aforementioned structures. That my choices would probably look a little different... which is how I ended up here in Minnesota tattooing (mostly) eyebrows! In 2011, I enrolled in my freshman year at a university to study design, realized I could not afford to continue beyond that first year and so instead decided to go to cosmetology school. I moved around the country a bit continuing to do hair, until I was offered an opportunity to learn a bit more about the aesthetics side of my license. During the next 3 years, I would build a cliental in brow shapings, tints, laminations, among other aesthetic services and then eventually would pivot toward cosmetic tattooing. In March of 2021, I went to Los Angeles to complete my foundational certification for Microblading. Shortly after that, I secured a cosmetic tattooing apprenticeship in Minneapolis and moved to Minnesota that summer. Since the completion of my apprenticeship, I've worked to strengthen and expand my skillset through various classes, workshops and collaborative forum with other industry professionals. My hope is that we are able to continue to elevate the client experience as we learn, grow and evolve alongside the ever-changing cosmetic tattooing industry.
